On the occasion of the 10th Vietnam National Heritage Day, 23 November 2014, the
Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards will be launched.

The Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards 2014 is organized by Vietnam Heritage Magazine with the valuable support of Canon as its main sponsor. The competition seeks out photos about the natural and cultural heritage of Vietnam.

The Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards 2014 welcomes submissions of photos concerning the land, nature, people and their stories of Vienam heritage for publication on the Vietnam Heritage magazine, website www.vietnamheritage.com.vn, iOS application and in Facebook. With the support of The Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of key provinces throughout Vietnam, 20 exhibitions of selected works from the contest will be held in over 10 cities. The exhibitions aim to share with the public views, and stories concerned with the heritage of Vietnam through the power of photography.

The Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards 2014 is open to both Vietnamese and foreigners.

1. Nature (Landscapes, marine resources, forest resources, geological resources, plants, wildlife, the environment)
2. Tangible heritage (Architecture, sculpture, art, crafts...)
3. Intangible heritage (Music, dance, festival, folk games, religion...)
4. Life (Daily life scenes, customs, practices, portraiture...)

1. Photographs must be in digital format, either coloured or black and white. No print or film submissions will be accepted for entry into this Contest. All digital files must be 5 megabytes or smaller, must be in JPEG, 300 DPI.
2. Entries could be single photos or series. Entries should focus on the contest topics as stipulated above.
3. Number of entries:
a. SINGLE-PHOTO ENTRY: Maximum 4 photos for each topic.
b. SERIES-PHOTO ENTRY: Maximum 3 series, each series to consist of a
maximum of 8 photos.
4. Photos submitted should be accompanied with explanation: time, place, character, the name of the work, author’s name). Stories behind the photo will be welcomed.
5. Photos should be taken within the period from 01 January 2013 till 20 September 2014. (The organizer will ask for the original photos if needed).
6. No acceptance of photos edited or changed by Photoshop or any other software in a way that changes the essence of the content.
7. Participants are responsible for the photos submitted with regards to copyright law, and must be in compliance with Vietnamese ethics. The organiser reserves the right to refuse work submitted late or work that does not follow the rules as stated above.
8. All photographs will be judged based on the following key criteria:
a. Relevance to the theme
b. Composition of the photograph
9. Members of the organising board and the Panel of judges are not eligible to participate in the contest.
10. The decision of the Panel of Judges has the highest power and is the final.
11. The Organizer will not investigate any complaints about the prizes.

V. PRIZES : There will be 30 prizes.
SERIES: One first prize, one second prize, one third prize and two runner-up prizes.
SINGLE-PHOTO: Each category has one first prize, one second prize, one third prize and two runner-up prizes.

20 Exhibitions are scheduled to be held from 22 October 2014 to the end of Tet Holiday of 2015, in cities such as: Ho Chi Minh City, Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Da Nang, Hue,
Ha Long, Ha Noi, Da Lat, Vung Tau, Can Tho

The Awards Ceremony will be held on Sunday 23 November 2014, at The Independence Palace, Ho Chi Minh City.
There will also be a winning-photo auction at the Awards Ceremony. Money raised from the auction will be given to support training programs of Saigon Children’s Charity.

The Organizer hopes to receive support from domestic and foreign businesses to promote the exhibitions and the theme of Vietnam Heritage more forcefully and widely.

The organizer reserves the right to use photos submitted to the Contest for the promotional and marketing purposes of the program by media means, website, iOS application, and on the Facebook pages of Vietnam Heritage magazine, the Diamond Sponsor, the Transportation Sponsor and Gold Sponsors.

The organizer will pay for works selected for exhibitions. . 200,000VND per single photo and 500,000VND per a serie.Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards 2014 exhibition catalogues will be sent to authors as gifts.Works selected for printing in Vietnam Heritage magazine will be paid at the usual rate of the magazine.
